Scottish Lettings Day an “important opportunity to get the industry together”
PayProp sponsored and attended Scottish Lettings Day this month, where landlords and agents discussed the issues facing the private rented sector.
Rob has been taking part in Movember for the last 14 years, and four years ago he became a Movember Foundation Community Ambassador to help raise awareness of the cause.
The Movember Foundation aims to raise awareness of men’s health issues, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer and – the one closest to Rob’s heart – mental health.
“Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men,” says Rob. “Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. I have been fortunate enough to have been able to talk to others about my issues which has helped me immensely through my tough times but there are many men out there who struggle to talk.”
This month, Rob has been hard at work spreading the word about Movember. Earlier this month he hosted an annual fundraiser featuring live music, beard trims and a charity raffle – raising £800 in total! He’s also been touring the country sharing his own experience with anxiety and depression to help others who may be suffering in silence.
And his commitment goes well beyond the end of the month. On 15 and 16 December, he’s challenged himself to swim 24 miles in 24 hours as part of his Movember fundraising. In fact, Rob is a regular at extreme fundraising challenges: in previous years, he’s swum the length of Lake Windermere, cycled from Manchester to Blackpool and walked 250km in a month, all to raise money for the causes he cares about.
Check out Rob’s Movember page to see what he’s doing next – and find out how close he is to his £1,500 fundraising goal.
