Rental growth hits new seven-year high
Annual rental growth in South Africa was at its highest for almost eight years in Q1, according to the latest PayProp Rental Index.
But staying on top of inspections and maintenance is difficult, time-consuming, and comes with a long list of compliance obligations. Put it this way: there’s a good reason why agents put it as one of their top three challenges for 2024 in the latest PayProp State of the Rental Industry survey.
PayProp has partnered with home inspection specialists Property Inspect to address these issues by integrating inspections and maintenance into the country’s leading rental payment platform.
Getting inspections right is crucial: detailed incoming and outgoing inspection reports are necessary to protect your landlords under the terms of the Rental Housing Act. Unless the state of repair of the property is thoroughly documented and a detailed report signed by the tenant, tenants can’t be charged for necessary repairs.
The Property Inspect platform enables agents to cut the time they spend on inspections by up to 50% while still gathering all the evidence they need to make claims against the tenant’s damage deposit. Agents carrying out inspections can easily compile professionally branded reports with high-quality photos and share them with landlords and tenants. All parties can then view, share, download, comment on and sign the report from a convenient online web portal.
And when inspections are carried out or maintenance issues are logged, the new integration plugs into PayProp’s maintenance tracking module, so you don’t have to run two systems – helping you solve issues faster and keep the properties you’re entrusted with in tip-top condition.
Here’s how the integration works:
Property Inspect also comes with a host of other powerful features for rental agents, from material and labour cost uploads to interactive Web reports and powerful analytics to track performance.
The integration between PayProp and Property Inspect is live and available for all users now. Plus, PayProp users who sign up for Property Inspect before the end of 2024 will get 50% off their first month.
